Summers & Kato

Mark and Adam have been DJing as a two for over 3 years. They have been official Classique residents for over 18 months, bringing to the night a sound which fuses electro and progressive, creating a more varied and uplifting style of house music.

Mark started out nearly eight years ago, playing late 90’s trance before finding the progressive sound through the likes of DJ Sasha and John Digweed: ‘I can remember buying my first ever Global Undergound CD mixed by Sasha back in 1998 – one listen and I was hooked’ Mark took his progressive sound to clubs including Kudos (Birmingham) and the famous Crazy Daisy’s, before teaming up with Adam to become one half of Summers & Kato.

Adam first started playing Hard House / Trance under the guise ‘Corporate Jones’, playing at nights such as ‘Fidget’ and his very own hard dance night ‘Spectrum’, before finding the more slower paced electro sound. It was by chance Mark and Adam met – they were playing on the same DJ bill as DJ Cass (one half of Cass n Slide) at the legendary Crazy Daisy’s. After swapping Numbers and mixed CDs the scene was set for them to become a DJ double act.

As Classique’s official residents, Summers and Kato are in charge of getting the Classique mafia into the groove, thus experimentation with set structure and track listings is something they take very seriously. Adam states: ‘when warming up the crowd, it’s very important to get the groove right for the night early on thus we like to take things a little deeper and more chuggy to start with, then build it up nicely to some uplifting / pumping electro’
Mark Adds: ‘It’s all about building a groove in which people can get in to. There is no point in banging out the anthems from the start – it’s about building things up at the right pace’

Summers & Kato continue to support the ever growing night Classique, and will be aiming to expand their talents as they look forward to getting their first track release under their belts, watch this space…
